Tunnel to Towers Run
On September 25, there will be the third annual Tunnel to Towers Run. This is a run from Brooklyn to Manhattan via the Battery Tunnel. It commemorates the actions of Firefigher Stephen Siller on September 11, 2001. Upon hearing of what happened, Siller, on his day off, strapped on 70 pounds of gear and ran the 5 kilometers from Brooklyn to Manhattan to do what he could. He died that day, but he and his bravery are well remembered.
